Break Up

- Interdisciplinary and Verbatim Project

Break Up is a theatre performance based on true stories about what happens when relationships end. Three women in their twenties, thirties, and fifties share love disappointments, accompanied by two musicians. These five characters give voice to these personal stories and take us on a journey where we discover that separation can be more than loss and sorrow, a universal reflection of lost illusions, disastrous moments, and rediscoveries.

Break Up is not just theatre, it is comic relief for broken hearts of all ages.

Testimonies

´´About the Show: Break Up fills the room with honesty and transparency about the paths of heartbreak, so much so that we immediately empathize – we inevitably feel as though we're on stage. We start to observe ourselves; we're no longer just watching a play, but examining behaviors we've had, reopening repressed memories, giving them new meaning... It’s coaching with sensitivity and humor! If we surrender to it, it's therapeutic! About the Experience: I had never contributed content to a show before, and as Raio took us deep into exploring various cores of emotion, I found myself processing, in catharsis, both when interviewed and later – seeing my experience honored on stage. Even the tip about taking a 10-minute pause during a moment of conflict was there! Suddenly, what I lived wasn’t just mine, it wasn’t so solitary – we felt it together. And that brings courage.’’- interviewee
